Maumee Police to hold police academy

From a news release:

The Maumee Police Division will hold a Citizen Police Academy early this autumn. The purpose of the academy is to enhance the relationship between police division and the community. The Citizen Police Academy is designed to give members of the community an overview of what police work is like. Instructors will be members of the Maumee Police Division.  The eight-week course will run from Sept. 9 thru Oct. 28, 2008. Classes will be on Tuesday evenings from 6-10 PM, at the Maumee Police Building, 109 E. Dudley St.

Constitutional Law

Use of Force

Entry Teams

Mock Scenarios

Firearms

Traffic Crash Investigations

    After Wednesday, Riverside Hospital will be glimpsed only in photographs and memories.  The demolition of the former hospital is set to begin that day at 8:30 a.m. The building at 1609 Summit St. is connected to the Toledo Public Schools' district headquarters.     All eastbound lanes are blocked on the Ohio Turnpike due to a semi crash.

    Turnpike officials say the crash is happening at mile marker 88.4 in Sandusky County.

    Police were unable to locate where the shooting occurred, but say the vehicle that dropped Mathis off at the hospital was found with numerous bullet holes in the driver's side.
