Books-A-Million and Owens team up to collect school supplies

Columbus, Ohio (July 24, 2008) - Books-A-Million at The Town Center at Levis Commons and the Owens Community College Alumni Association have joined forces for the fifth annual Backpack to the Future Service Project.  The program collects new and gently-used backpacks and school supplies for underprivileged kindergarten children throughout northwest Ohio.  Donations are being accepted at Books-A-Million through August 18.

Needed supplies include:

  • Backpacks - new or gently used
  • Crayons - 8 count, fat crayons
  • Crayons - 16 or 24 count
  • Markers - primary colors
  • Elmer's 4 oz. bottle of glue
  • Elmer's glue sticks
  • Box of colored pencils
  • #2 yellow pencils
  • Pink erasers
  • School boxes
  • Pocket folders
  • Marbled covered composition books -100 page journals
  • Tissues
  • Freezer bags with zipper
  • Diaper wipes

Since its inception in 2004, Backpack to the Future has provided more than 850 backpacks and more than 12,500 school supplies to children throughout the area.  "Backpack to the Future is a very notable and worthy cause that benefits children who truly need the support," said Casey Pogan, Marketing Director, Hill Partners, Inc., The Town Center at Levis Commons.  "We are proud to be a part of the program and are hoping for a positive response from the community again this year."

The Town Center at Levis Commons is a 319,000 square foot open-air lifestyle center offering a collection of national, regional and local specialty merchants.  The center contains over 60,000 square feet of class A office space featuring views of The Town Center and unparalleled regional access via I-475, I-75 and the surrounding freeways.  The developer, Hill Partners, Inc., based in Charlotte, N.C., is responsible for merchandising, retail leasing and management of the center. CB Richard Ellis|Reichle Klein is handling the office leasing responsibilities.
