Wood County police looking for suspect in standoff

WOOD COUNTY -- The search is on for a man police consider dangerous after a standoff in Wood County.

Police say a short chase ended when the suspect ran into a garage on Main St. in the village of Wayne. That's when David Sheridan pulled out a gun, pointed it at his head, and threatened to kill himself, police say. The officer backed off and called for assistance. When he came back, the suspect was gone.

Sheridan is a convicted sex offender who has failed to register in the last six months. If you've seen Sheridan, call 9-1-1 right away. Police say he is "armed and dangerous."
