TOLEDO, Ohio (WTOL) - Lucas County cares is the message volunteers are working to get across for the first ever Lucas County Day of Caring.

More than 60 Lucas County employees and their families spent their Saturday volunteering at the Cherry Street Ministries.

Workers were busy helping to refurbish the old Banner Manner Warehouse, which is being turned into a new center for the ministries.

"Life Bridges Center is the newest edition to Cherry Street Mission. Support to those in need in the community," says the Cherry Street Mission Ministries' Teri Garcia.

But the caring doesn't stop today. All this month Lucas County employees are holding food and clothing drives.
