TOLEDO (WTOL) - The investigation into alleged misconduct by Port Authority President Jim Hartung took another step forward Thursday as the Port's Board of Directors met to discuss the situation.

The board met in executive session for over an hour. Board Chairman Bill Carroll said the Port has contracted with the law firm Spengler Nathanson to conduct an independent investigation into an alleged affair between Hartung and a lobbyist who received money from the Port Authority.

Hartung remains on the job as president of the Toledo Lucas County Port Authority for the time being.

The City of Toledo's law department has made a request for records. Carroll says the board will get to the bottom of these allegations.
