TOLEDO -- A west Toledo car dealer is dealing with thousands of dollars in lost goods. The theft took place Wednesday night at First Step Auto Financing on Dorr at Secor.
Early Wednesday morning, thieves got into the lot, ripped off about 17 rims and tires from several cars and then stole a 1995 blue Jeep Grand Cherokee. They then crashed the Cherokee through the fence and got away.
Workers spent all day cleaning up the mess and assessing the damage.
"(The stolen vehicle is worth) approximately probably $3,000. And we won't be able to turn it into our insurance, it just won't be worth it for us to raise our premiums. So needless to say, with the economy the way it is and these small businesses, this is a loss we have to take for the day," said Bill Morgan, manager.
