BGSU football player arraigned on burglary charges

BOWLING GREEN -- A Bowling Green State University football player is behind bars tonight after authorities say he was involved with two other armed men in a home invasion. The victims were three international students who lived at the Enclave Two apartment complex in Bowling Green.

Orlando Barrow, 19, was arraigned in Bowling Green Municipal Court. He's been charged with aggravated burglary and abduction.

Authorities say Barrow and two other masked men walked into an apartment at the Enclave Two complex along Klotz Rd. Three residents inside say the men began shouting "Where's the weed?" and threatened to kill them.

The residents say the men ransacked the apartment, kicked open a bedroom door and left. Shortly afterwords, Barrow -- who also lives at the Enclave -- was arrested.

"He initially gave the story he was going to do some laundry. After talking to officers, he made some admissions," says Lt. Tony Hetrick.

Barrow is from Chesapeake, Va., and is a defensive lineman on the BGSU football team. He played in 13 games last season.  Against Temple, Barrow recovered a fumble to score a touchdown.

Students living in the Enclave say the home invasion is a shocker and plan to become more security conscious.

"It's pretty frightening to think that could happen in Bowling Green. But I guess it can happen anywhere if it's a college campus," says student Kate Benish. "Guess we'll probably lock our windows when we go to sleep now."

For now, Barrow will be sleeping in the Wood County Jail, unable to make his $20,000 dollar bail. The BGSU Athletic Department tells News 11 Barrow has been placed in interim suspension from the football team and classes at the university.
