UT gets $2M grant for solar energy research

TOLEDO -- The University of Toledo is getting new money to help fund alternative energy research. A $2 million grant is being announced Friday, May 16.

Longtime UT supporter Helen McMaster will donate the money to help fund photovoltaic research. It converts the energy from sunlight into electricity.

McMaster's husband Henry helped start the company that later became First Solar.
