MAUMEE -- Father Frank Murd has resigned as pastor of Saint Joseph Parish in Maumee.
In a letter from the Diocese of Toledo, Bishop Leonard Blair revealed Father Murd informed him that he was under investigation by Sylvania police for an allegation involving an incident of improper sexual contact with an adult.
The adult reportedly has no link or tie to the Saint Joseph Parish Community.
The prosecutor in Sylvania has indicated that he will take several weeks to decide whether or not to prosecute.
Bishop Blair reported that Father Murd will be reassigned to a residential facility for appropriate spiritual remedies and for professional evaluation and counseling. He also said St. Joseph's will be receiving a new pastor, yet to be determined, by July 1, 2008. In the meantime, Associate Pastor, Father Monte Hoyles, has been appointed to serve as Administrator of the parish.
