Town meeting to assist families of deployed troops

PERRYSBURG -- The public is invited to attend Operation Ohio Helps Its Own (O-OHIO). It's a town hall meeting focusing on how you, your organization and others can work together in support of Ohio's military families. The purpose of the event is to provide opportunity for Ohioans to assist our military families.

The Adjutant General's department says each service member who deploys leaves behind family members who make their own sacrifices and need support.

More than 13,000 Ohio National Guard members, Army troops and Air troops have deployed since September 11, 2001.

The Adjutant General of Ohio, Major General Gregory Wayt is hosting six events across the state.

Closest to Toledo is the Perrysburg event on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. at Owens Community College Performing Arts Auditorium located at 30335 Oregon Rd in Perrysburg.

For more information, call Michelle Gire at (614) 336-7369.

Additional events will take place in Kettering and Hamilton.
