Over the last couple of weeks, you've seen them get tested and start their work-out routines. But what about deciding what to eat?
Today we're looking at an area that can sideline any weight loss journey if you're not careful: buying the groceries.
Denise went grocery shopping with a Weight Watchers expert, who gave her tips such as buying fresh fruit and keeping it in a bright-colored bowl on the counter. She suggested having a snack before going shopping, so you're not hungry. She also told Denise it's important to have a list, so you don't get distracted.
Tips for Weight Watchers specifically include buying foods with no points such as lettuce. No points means the food is healthy for you and it's satisfying. She also pointed out the difference between the same food at different levels of being processed. A box of raisins is the same number of points as 3 cups of grapes. "I don't know about you, but I'd rather have 3 cups of grapes than a little box of raisins," she said.
Not that Denise doesn't still crave cheeseburgers and pizza. She's especially struggling since she quit smoking at the same time. Our Weight Watchers expert says it's ok to eat the food you love such as cheese. Just find reduced fat versions of them. In regards to the smoking, she suggested popcorn as a snack. It's low in points and keeps the hands busy.
