TOLEDO -- The Toledo area metroparks are looking to expand with the purchase of a major piece of land. The area known as Howard Farms is off State Route 2 near the Metzger Marsh Wildlife Area.

The Board of Park Commissioners is expected to approve Wednesday the largest and most costly acquisition in Metroparks 80 year history. The new metropark will cover 959 acres and cost $6 million. It will be part recreation and part conservation as it falls in the Lake Erie coastal zone.
