UPDATE: As of Friday evening, all three SUV passengers remain hospitalized. One child from the bus remains hospitalized.
EAST OF TIFFIN -- A bus accident at SR 18 and Township Rd. 159, which is east of Tiffin, happened just before 8 a.m. Thursday morning the Seneca County Sheriff's Dept. has told us.
Police say an SUV was headed east on SR 18 when it hit an icy patch, slid left of center and hit a bus. The SUV was driven by Melissa Ware, 31, of Tiffin. Ms. Ware and her passengers, Mara Ware, 4, and Luke Ware, 1, were all transported to St. Vincent by Life Flight. Their conditions are as follows:
Melissa Ware, 31 -- fair condition
Mara Ware, 4 -- serious condition
Luke Ware, 1 -- critical condition
The SUV hit a SCAT (Seneca County Agency Transportation) bus driven by George Davis of Bascom, Ohio. The bus was occupied by seven children, all of Tiffin. The bus driver and all seven children were injured.
The following children as well as the driver were transported by ambulance to Tiffin Mercy Hospital:
- Driver George Davis, 77, good condition
- Matthew Donaldson, 7 treated and released
- Michael Meadows, 9 good condition
- Michael Schirage, Jr., 10 treated and released
- McKinsey Lee Priddy-Smith, 6 good condition
- Lalo Ludwick, Jr., 9 treated and released
- Valencia Ludwick, 6 treated and released
Michaela Brickner, 5, was on the bus and was transported by Life Flight to St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo. She is in serious condition.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says no charges have been filed and the traffic crash remains under investigation.
