THREE DOT SPORTS WEEKEND

Toledo--High School State basketball tournaments wrapping up on Saturday... Libbey Cowboys in search of their first title in school history... facing Chillicothe in the Division Two State Championship game... talk about the one that got away... with 5-seconds left in overtime Julius Wells hit two clutch free throws to give the Cowboys a 69-68 lead... then with five-seconds to decide a championship...Akron-bound Anthony Hitchens raced up the floor and delivered a pass to Ray Chambers underneath... Chambers shot hung on the rim for a moment... finallt dropped as the horn sounded... Libbey nipped in overtime 70-69... Mister Basketball William Buford with a game high 29-points... but the Ohio State bound Buford and the rest of the Cowboys will be thinking about those five-seconds for a long time... tough way to end a wonderful year... Libbey finshed the season with a record of 24-3...  Buford and Wells both made the Division II All-tournament team...

                Life was much rosier for the Titans of Ottawa-Glandorf... last won a State Title in 2004... have now made it two championships in five years... beat Garaway 62-44 to win the Division III State Championship... outcome was never in doubt... Jake Meyer came off the bench to score 21-points... what a wonderful scenario for the folks from Ottawa... no need to talk about the weather and flooding on this day...  let's hear about Meyer and Justin Schomaeker named outstanding players for the Division III tournament... and for Coach Josh Leslie... nobody has to remind him of the Dave Sweet days anymore.. Leslie now has a title of his own... congrats again to the Ottawa-Glandorf Titans...
