TOLEDO -- If you think gas prices are high, try diesel. In some locations, it's .50 higher per gallon than gas.
In the Toledo area, News 11's Shelley Brown found diesel prices just under $4 a gallon. In Monroe, Mich., at least one location is reporting nearly $4.20 a gallon.
It's having an impact on everyone -- from truck drivers to locally-owned businesses, News 11 has learned.
"I think it's crazy. It doesn't make any sense at all," complains truck driver Gregg Smith.
Soaring prices are putting a crunch on those who rely on diesel, including owners of Throne Auto Service. Owner Dave Throne says he just got the biggest fuel bill he's ever seen.
"I just opened my gas bill today. It was about $10,000," Throne says. "I am going to have to send out letters to my customers to let them know that I am going to have to raise my rates and you know, hope that they stay with me."
Truck drivers are having a difficult time keeping up with the price increases.
"I don't think I have words to say, but it takes a toll," admits Donna Welch.
