Sylvania fire levy to go on ballot

If approved in March, this would be a permanent tax for residents. Money raised would generate operating funds and provide money for new fire stations and equipment.

SYLVANIA -- Sylvania Township trustees have just voted to place to put a 1.25 mill fire levy on the March 4 primary ballot.

If approved in March, this would be a permanent tax for residents. Money raised would generate operating funds and provide money for new fire stations and equipment.

Last month, two competing fire levies on the ballot were turned down by voters.

Sylvania township trustees are putting their hopes in voters once again.

In November, competing fire levies put on the ballot by trustees and by community members both ended up being defeated.
