BEFORE YOU GO
- Research the employer.
- Memorize your resume.
- Practice.
- Visit the place beforehand.
- Dress appropriately.
ONCE YOU GET THERE
- Check your breath.
- Arrive 10 - 15 minutes early.
- Make a good first impression.
- Initiate the handshake.
- Maintain eye contact.
- Relax.
- Imitate the interviewer's body language.
- Listen carefully and focus on the employer's needs.
- Express interest in the company/job.
CREATING A LASTING IMPRESSION
- Thank interviewer by name.
- Express interest in the job and the company.
- Reinforce that you can and will do the job.
- Request the opportunity to follow up.
- Write down call-back date and time.
- Restate thank you.
AFTER INTERVIEW TIPS
- Send thank you notes to everyone who interviewed you within 2 days of the interview.
- Make a follow-up call a week later to "make sure they received your note."
- If you are no longer interested in the job, write a decline letter or call them.
REMEMBER IT IS THE BETTER PREPARED JOB SEEKER WHO GETS THE JOB, NOT NECESSARILY THE BETTER QUALIFIED ONE!!!
