A random attack happened at BGSU earlier this week, causing school officials to send a campus-wide email stressing safety precautions.
News 11's Dick Berry was on campus Friday with details.
The attack happened in the early morning hours when a female student got out of her car that was parked along Merryy St. on campus. She started walking back toward the Offenhauer dorm when a man jumped out from behind a dumpster, pulling her hair and punching her in the face. The woman got loose and ran to safety.
Students found out about the incident from a campus-wide email. Today they expressed fear and the importance of using common sense. One suggested having more lights between the parking lot and dorms. Another stressed the importance of walking while always being aware what's around you.
BG is also stressing safety. They suggest to walk in groups and to take the campus shuttle or the student-run campus escort service. For more information about the Shuttle Service, call the Shuttle Office at (419) 372-0236.
