MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Another meat recall. This time it involves the Sam's Club warehouse chain, which is pulling a brand of ground beef produced by Cargill.
The company and health officials say four Minnesota children who ate the meat between September 10 and September 20 were sickened by E. coli. Two of the youngsters were hospitalized. One has since been released but the other is still in the hospital.
The patties had been purchased at three Sam's Club stores in the Twin Cities area. The meat was sold under the name American Chef's Selection Angus Beef Patties.
Cargill is asking customers to return or destroy any of it purchased after August 26th. Sam's Club has voluntarily removed the product from store shelves nationwide.
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is working with federal agriculture officials to determine the source of the contamination.
