MAUMEE -- A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated the opening of Fallen Timbers Mall on Wednesday in Monclova Township.
More than 40 stores opened their doors, and the Maumee High School marching band, color guard and varsity cheerleaders were there pumping up the crowd.
Yes, folks, the newest outdoor shopping center has opened its doors.
Just last fall, ground was broken on Maumee's new outdoor shopping center. About 500 workers could be found on site on any given day, which made it possible to open on Oct. 3.
The mall has enough space for 90 shops. Most are of mid-price range, including anchor stores Dillard's, JC Penny, and Barnes and Noble.
Site plans also call for a lake with a boardwalk area and a restaurant district. They're all on the fast track to completion, which is part of the developer's money-saving plan.
Developers hope all of this fast-paced work will pay off, as construction is set to wrap up by the holiday shopping season.
