Former TPS board candidate Richard Brown arraigned

TOLEDO -- Richard Brown was arraigned in a Lucas County courtroom at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon on felony charges involving teenagers. Prosecutors say he showed two teenage boys pornographic pictures in his home -- and they say that he endangered the youths by encouraging them to pose or model for pornographic pictures.

Prosecutors also say Brown disciplined the kids by hitting them.

Prior to his arraignment, Brown was booked into the Lucas County jail where his mugshot and fingerprints were obtained.

Judge Linda Jennings, Lucas County Common Pleas Court, released Brown on supervised OR and ordered him to have no contact with the alleged victims.

Brown's next court date is October 22.

John Weglian, chief of the Lucas County prosecutor's special units division, had confirmed last Friday that Richard Brown -- who was, until Friday, a candidate for the TPS school board --was been indicted by a Lucas County grand jury on four counts of child endangering and 2 counts of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.
