Small plane crashes north of Toledo

Witnesses say the plane appeared to be descending toward an open field on Eggert Road, then made a nose-dive into a tree.

RAISINVILLE TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN -- The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is reporting another plane crash in Monroe County.

Officials say the Cosmo Ultra-light plane flown by Antonio Minaevo of Detroit crashed in a residential area around 2:30 p.m.

Witnesses say the plane appeared to be descending toward an open field on Eggert Road, then made a nose-dive into a tree.

Minaevo was flown from the scene by Life Flight to St. Vincent's Mercy Medical Center where he's listed in critical condition.

There is no word on the cause of the crash at this time. The Federal Aviation Administration is currently investigating.
