Honda Recalling 180,000 Civics

WASHINGTON -- Honda is recalling its popular Civic model after discovering a problem with the wheel bearings.  The recall affects than 180,000 Civics in the 2006 and 2007 model years.

Honda says a wheel-bearing seal could leak, and lead to a wheel falling off.  So far, the company has received two complaints related to this defect, but no injuries have been reported.

Honda joined General Motors and Nissan in posting a sales increase last month in a struggling U.S. auto market.  Honda says its August 2007 sales were up 4.7% over August 2006 sales.

Honda says it sold 158,342 Honda and Acura models, with car sales up 11.7% and truck sales down 3.6%.
