ROMULUS, MICHIGAN -- Authorities have given the all-clear for a Detroit Metro airport terminal that had been evacuated due to a suspicious package found in the baggage area. The incident began around 10:00 at the McNamara Terminal.
Officials cleared a 300-foot radius around the package at the McNamara Terminal. Traffic to the adjacent parking garage was diverted.
It's unclear why the package was considered suspicious, but broadcast reports say the terminal's check-in lobby and baggage claim were evacuated.
Several flights have been delayed in and out of the airport.
The McNamara Terminal is Northwest's hub in Detroit. The terminal also handles Continental, Delta, and other airlines.
This is a breaking news story, and as soon as more information comes in, we'll post it in this space.
