OSHA Fines Local Company for Deadly Incident

SOUTH TOLEDO -- An area construction company faces a fine for the death of a worker last July.  The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has fined Mosser Construction $5,000 for the death of Tom Zunk of Fremont.

Zunk was one of several Mosser workers building a pump station at Toledo's new wastewater treatment plant.  He was helping to dismantle a crane when an 8-ton counterweight fell from the crane and crushed him.

Rescuers were called to the scene, but Zunk was pronounced dead.  He was a Teamster mechanic and an 18-year veteran of the company.  He was married, with two daughters.

OSHA fined Mosser for not operating the crane to specifications.
