TOLEDO -- A Lucas county jury has found a Toledo man guilty of murder. Late Thursday, jurors found 21-year-old Charles Mickey Rodriguez guilty of the fatal shooting of General Hurst at Lagrange and Pearl on New Year's Eve.
Prosecutors say Rodriquez encountered Hurst as Hurst exited a carryout in north Toledo. They say Rodriguez thought Hurst was getting involved with his girlfriend so he started beating him up outside the store. Hurst tried to run away, but was shot in the back.
Rodriguez could face 18 years to life in prison. Prosecutors say he has an extensive juvenile record including shooting four people at a party, which will be taken into consideration at his sentencing next month.
