WOOD COUNTY -- The Otsego School Board and Otsego teachers have reached a tentative contract deal, News 11 has been told. Teachers have worked without a contract for one year.
There will be a ratification information session Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Tontogany.
The new Otsego superintendent, Jim Garber, said last week that both sides met for four hours, and that he was optimistic about progress. Union negotiator Bruce Jeffers scheduled a tentative meeting with rank and file for this week, which took place today.
Other issues: a factfinder awarded teachers a six percent raise over a two-year period. The board turned it down. Another sticking point: Teachers are being asked to give up spousal health benefits.
