MONCLOVA -- A 4-year-old girl from Monclova is looking for a path to a cure. Kaylee Halko has Progeria Syndrome, a disease that ages her body 8 to 10 times faster than typical children.
Kaylee's growth is stunted, she's lost her hair, and she faces very early on-set of heart disease, stroke and arthritis.
This weekend, walkers and runners will participate in a benefit 5k race and a 2-mile walk to raise money for Progeria research. Here's what you need to know:
Race Registration, Start and Finish:
First 400 people are guaranteed a t-shirt.
Raise $100 in pledges, and your entry is free.
Silent Auction Begins Immediately After Race
Refreshments after the race included with registration
Kaylee just started taking part in an experimental drug trial at Childrens Hospital of Boston. It's hoped the drug will slow or stop the progression of the disease. Her mother Marla says it's the only hope.
