NEW YORK -- An American Airlines flight traveling from Los Angeles to London was diverted to New York's JFK airport early Thursday after the flight crew reported a suspicious passenger, the U.S. Transportation Security Administration said.
A flight attendant had witnessed the passenger riding on the LAX employee shuttle bus from the employee parking lot to the airport employee entrance earlier; then recognized him on the flight in Business Class after it was enroute to London Heathrow.
Early reports say American Airlines Flight 136 made an emergency landing in New York around 4 a.m. and that security agents boarded the plane and took a man off the plane.
American Airlines security confirmed the identity of the pasenger, the uncertain process by how he boarded the aircraft and that he was an executive platinum traveler with a bona fide round trip ticket that was purchased on April 19.
