Shiver Sims paid for a new chimney, but more than a month later, all she has is a ladder and some bricks.
"They left that ladder up there. He claimed that if they left the ladder he'd back tomorrow," Sims claims.
But Sims says Advanced Masonry, the company she hired to do the job hasn't been back since. Now she's without a chimney -- and the $500 she paid for the job, which this senior says doesn't come easily.
"I'm poor. I don't have any money," Sims says. "It's a lot of money to me."
She says she's tried calling the company, but "They don't answer the phone. They tell you to leave a message."
So Sims is turning to Call 11 for Action's Mika Highsmith.
"I've seen you. I've seen you guys and how you work. You do great work. I hate to be in it but you know what , I'm in it," Sims says.
Mika Highsmith went to the contractor's house. Not only does the company have an unsatisfactory record with the BBB, they're not even licensed in the City of Toledo. Something Sims regrets not checking out, a mistake she's hopes others will learn from.
