TOLEDO -- What started as a voluntary recall is now required by the government, and it's gone national.
HoneyBaked Foods based in Holland, Ohio, is recalling nearly 47,000 pounds of cooked ham and turkey products that may be contaminated with Listeria.
The recalled products include 6- to 11-lb. packages of "sliced and glazed fully cooked half ham" and 12- to 16-lb. packages of whole ham.
HoneyBaked is also recalling 3-lb. packages of "sliced and glazed cooked boneless turkey breast" as well as the smoked version of the turkey. The glazed ham and turkey was produced between September 5 and November 13.
The meat was sold at the company's retail stores and kiosks in The Andersons stores in the Toledo area -- as well as over the Internet and through catalogs.
Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems.
If you're concerned about a HoneyBaked purchase, call the company's hotline to see if you have one of the recalled products: 1-800-461-3998.
