Country Apple Tart

4 apples (Jonathan, McIntosh, Rome, or Honey Crisp), peeled and sliced
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons water
1/4 cup cranberry sauce
1 unbaked pie shell disk
powdered sugar (garnish)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Put sugar and water in 10-inch saute pan and cook on high heat until carmelized.  Add butter and cranberry sauce, and cook additional minute or two.  Add apples.  Cover with pie crust, tucking excess under.  Place in oven until pie dough is baked.  Remove from oven and immediately flip over on a plate.  Dust with powdered sugar, and serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.  Enjoy.
