NAPOLEON, OH (WTOL) - Crews are battling a large fire in downtown Napoleon Tuesday morning.
The fire started at Brick N' Brew Pub around midnight on North Perry Street across from the courthouse.
Crews say the fire started in the basement and spread throughout the building. They say heavy smoke was coming out of the building when they arrived at the scene.
At one point the fire got too dangerous and crews were forced to pull out of the building, turning the fire fight into a defensive attack.
Crews say the business has been shut down for several months and that there is a lease sign in the window.
Police say the building is part of the historical downtown buildings.
Crews are now deciding if the building should be torn down or not.
Napoleon fire was assisted by several other agencies, including Ridgeville, Wauseon, Defiance and Archbold fire.
