FIRST ALERT: Severe Storm Risk Friday

FIRST ALERT: Severe Storm Risk Friday

A powerful early Autumn cold front will crash into the area today bringing the risk of a few strong or possibly severe storms.  The timing of the storm will be from noon to 6 PM.

These storms may be quick moving with gusty winds the main threat.  Heavy rain does not appear to be a great threat, as these storms will be scattered and quick moving.  For most areas, the storm threat will end by 6 PM, leaving Friday night football games and other evening activities dry.

It will quickly turn cooler and breezy Friday evening near and after dark. This powerful early Autumn cold front will bring cooler weather and an end to the very warm and muggy feeling September weather for this weekend ahead.

The extended outlook shows the several quick turns toward cooler weather through late September and into early October.
