ALLEN COUNTY, OH -

One man is suffering from serious injuries after he was ejected from his vehicle following a two-vehicle crash in Allen County on Saturday.

The crash occurred at approximately 5:10 p.m. on Piquad Road at the intersection of Conant Road in Allen County.

A vehicle driven by Todd Elwer, 42, of Delphos was westbound on Piquad Road when another vehicle driven by Aadhar Nepal, 28, of Lima was northbound on Conant Road.

Nepal failed to stop his vehicle at the stop sign and struck Elwer's vehicle on the left side.

Both vehicles traveled off the northwest corner of the intersection and came to final rest in a planted soybean field.

A utility pole was struck and consequently resulted in live wires being dropped to the ground.

Elwer was ejected from the vehicle and came to rest in the soybean field. He was later transported to Mercy St. Rita’s hospital by American Township EMS with serious injury.

Nepal was extricated by mechanical means and later transported to Mercy St. Rita’s hospital by Delphos EMS. He was treated and released.

Nepal was wearing a safety restraint whereas Elwer was not.

Alcohol is suspected as being a factor in this crash.

The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by, Allen County Sheriff’s Office, American Township EMS, Delphos Fire and EMS, Allen County Engineers Office, Midwest Electric Power Company, Delpha Chevrolet Towing, and Big Daddy’s Towing.

The Highway Patrol reminds motorists to drive sober, minimize distractions and always wear a safety belt.
