Historic south end initiative offers free in home Pre-K

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - In an effort to focus on the benefits of Pre-K, The Historic South Initiative is introducing a free, at home Pre-K program for kids ages three to five.

The program is open to the first 28 children registered in the Old South End.

Along with weekly home visits from Education Coordinator's, families will receive

  • A free Chromebook and software for children
  • A monthly incentive up to 120 dollars in gift cards to put towards activities with your children
  • FREE learning materials
  • and FREE internet in the homes of those involved in the program.

"I believe we have a success on our hands and I hope it will change so that we can help these children who are underserved get a chance at education," said program organizer and former educator Jacquie McIntyre

The program starts October 1st and is about a year long. Those interested have until September 28th to register.
