The Toledo Area Humane Society is taking in dozens of pets from a shelter in South Carolina, and is therefore making a call to the public for help.
The shelter said it's taking in about 70 dogs and cats from a shelter in Hurricane Florence's path as that shelter prepares to take in misplaced animals after the hurricane hits.
They're set to arrive here in the coming days and they need good homes in the meantime.
"We'll definitely need donations of large crates. Medium-to-large dog crates, preferably collapsible, wire crates," said Kristen McCann, the humane society's foster manager. "We're also gonna need foster families to house animals temporarily - the animals we have here already in addition to the incoming animals."
The Humane Society asks that if you're willing to become a foster family for these animals, you fill out an application on their website, and if you have any donations of cages, you can bring them directly to the shelter in Maumee.
