OREGON, OH (WTOL) - The Oregon Fire Department has requested that residents in the Bay Shore Road area between Dupont and Wynn, north to Harbor View area, to shelter In place due to a release from the BP Refinery.
Oregon dispatcher received a call from BP that there was an issue with sulfur in the air, approximately 4 ppm, which could cause some issues.
The Lucas County Emergency Management Agency was contacted and calls were made to anyone in the area who would potentially be affected. The affected people were told to shelter in place.
The issue has dissipated thanks in part to the strong winds. There are no reports of anyone experiencing any symptoms of exposure.
