TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - An 18-year-old man is in custody, accused of firing a weapon into a house and wounding a man in the stomach.
Damarrea N. Smith, was arrested Monday on charges of shooting into a home with an AK-47.
According to court documents, Smith is accused of riding in an SUV with three acquaintances to an alley off the 600 block of Spring Grove. The four allegedly covered their faces with T-shirts as Smith fired several bullets from the weapon into the house just after 1 a.m. Monday.
One of the bullets struck the victim in the stomach. He was taken to a hospital for surgery.
Smith is charged with two second-degree felonies — felonious assault and improperly discharging a firearm into a habitation or occupied structure.
He appeared in Toledo Municipal Court on Tuesday morning and has a hearing set for 9 a.m. Aug. 29.
