BOWLING GREEN, OH (WTOL) - Every August for 52 years Bowling Green, Ohio is renamed Pulltown USA.
It's the National Tractor Pulling Championships at the Wood County Fairgrounds.
Thousands of dollars in prize money is at stake this weekend in this Super Bowl of pulling.
It's John Deere versus Massey Ferguson versus International Harvester.
When drivers go the full 330 feet down the duster track it's a full pull.
"It's a tail of the tape measure. Not a drag race, not how fast you go. It's how far you can pull the weight. Some of these tractors are pulling in excess of forty thousand pounds," said Dave Schultz of the National Tractor Pulling Championships.
Sixty thousand fans have pulled into BG to watch the big boys and a few girls pull their weight around.
Among them is eleven year old Storm Owens of Whitehouse.
He's one of thirty Make-A-Wish kids you may see raising money through t-shirt sales to gr ant wishes for wish kids.
The shirts read 'Full Pull.'
"He's asking for people to make kids dreams come true and that's what Make-A-Wish is all about-making dreams come true," said Storm's mom Karen.
Last year Storm's dream of going to Disneyworld and marching with the Star Wars Stormtroopers came true.
His lymphoma is now in remission, he's helping Make-A-Wish and enjoying the pulls.
"I like how fast they go. They can go really fast carrying heavy stuff. I think that's awesome. It gets really loud," said Storm.
Big engines and big hearts on display this weekend in Bowling Green.
Not a bad combination.
