Mich. double homicide suspect in custody; sheriff releases details of slayings

HILLSDALE COUNTY, MI (WTOL) - A double homicide suspect is now in police custody and the Hillsdale County sheriff has released more information about the slayings. 
Alexander Lee Dombrowski, 36, is currently in the Hillsdale County Jail after being charged with two counts of open murder. His address and name is the same as one of the shooting victims.
Hillsdale County Sheriff Tim Parker said that on Thursday at 4:07 a.m., deputies were dispatched to 15500 Grange Road in Camden Township to investigate a report of a man being shot. 
Prior to deputies' arrival, they were advised that a second man had been shot in the front yard of the residence. Troopers from the Michigan State Patrol Jackson Post also responded to the scene along with deputies. 
After removing occupants of the residence, an extensive search was undertaken to look for the suspect in the shooting. He was said to have walked away from the residence after the shooting.


Sheriff Parker said Alexander Lee Dombrowski, 64, died at his residence as a result of the shooting. 
Timothy John Curtiss, 56, of 15780 Grange Road, also died at the 15500 Grange Road residence as a result of the shooting. 
The elder Dombrowski was shot inside the residence while Curtiss was shot outside of the residence after he responded to calls for help from within the residence.
At 9:04 a.m., a deputy from the Hillsdale County Sheriff's Office observed the suspect in the fatal shooting walking in a field south of the residence. The deputy along with the MSP E.S. Team took the male subject into custody without incident.
The younger Dombrowski was lodged in the Hillsdale County Jail. There was no bond set and he will be arraigned in Hillsdale District Court on Friday.
The Lenawee/Hillsdale County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene and assisted the Hillsdale County Sheriff's Office Crime scene technicians to process the crime scene. Sheriff Deputies were assisted by the following units;
Michigan State Police, Williams County Sheriff's Office, Steuben County Sheriff's Office, Branch County Sheriff's Office, Fayette Ohio Police Department, Reading Emergency Ambulance Service, Montgomery Fire Department, Williams Co EMS and the Hillsdale County Sheriff's Office Crime Victims Services Unit. 
Officers were also supported by Sheriff Deputies from Williams County, Ohio, in this effort.
