TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Parents of school-age children got some extra help with their back to school shopping on Saturday.
Finer Future Foundation of Toledo held their 2nd annual Back to School Supply Giveaway at Rogers High School.
Parents got backpacks full of school supplies at the event.
Organization leaders say, they are dedicated to helping families from all over the city.
"We wanna make sure everybody is taken care of. Where they might not have the essential needs and we can help provide them when it comes to back to school supplies or food around thanksgiving or even if it's toys during Christmas time we just like to chip in where you know they might need the assistance," said Kimo Mcswain, Chief Executive Officer, Finer Future Foundation.
They say their school supply giveaway is different because it is funded by other local businesses.
"We wanted to come out, give the children some backpacks, so just being in the community, you have to give back to your community you have to support," said Shaquya Clark with Brothers United.
And every kid there wore a smile as they enjoyed food, fun, and free haircuts.
"I had alot of fun, I ate. I was going to get in the bouncy house and we gone hoop," said Isaiah Beauchamp.
Maverick Neal was excited to get everything he was going to need for the classroom.
"We got like pencils, pens, notebooks, folders, and basically everything that were going to need," said Maverick.
Parents say the extra help is truly appreciated.
"It's a lot of parents out here that you know are not as fortunate as other parents with multiple children and I think this is great help to them to take some the financial stress off of them during the beginning of the school year," said parent Terrance Edwards. "Thank you all for everything that you're doing."
Organization leaders say they expect to continue their support for the children of Toledo through the upcoming school year.
