DEFIANCE COUNTY, OH (WTOL) - Two people were arrested after police discovered drugs in their possession during a traffic stop in Defiance County Thursday morning.

The investigation also revealed three children were left behind in a motel room while the traffic stop was taking place.

Police stopped 31-year-old Travis Rath of Bryan and 35-year-old Jessica McDaniel of Pioneer on State Route 15 near U.S. 24 around 12:20 a.m.

Police say a Defiance County Sheriff's K-9 officer was called to the scene and police discovered about 93 grams of methamphetamine and 3 grams of heroin in their possession.

Police say the drugs have a street value of about $11,000.

Rath and McDaniel were charged with aggravated possession of drugs, a second-degree felony.

They are being held at CCNO.

During the investigation, police say they also discovered three minor children who were left in a motel room in Wauseon.

The Fulton County Sheriff's Office and Fulton County Job and Family Services placed the children in protective custody.

Rath and McDaniel will appear in Defiance Municipal Court on Friday.

The incident is under investigation.
