TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - SSOE Group is a worldwide engineering company that was started and is based in Downtown Toledo.
The company celebrated 70 years in business on Wednesday.
The celebration had part of 10th Street shut down.
The whole company was out for a party and presentations in the street, and received accolades from our government leaders including Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur and Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz.
"Although we've grown to a global project delivery company, specializing in architectural engineering and construction management, with over 30 offices around the world, we still have our roots in Toledo and Toledo is our home," Bob Howell, CEO and president of SSOE said.
"The firm was founded by my father, Al Samborn in 1948, and we are just here to share in the success the firm has enjoyed over these seven decades and hope that it continues on its trajectory for seven more decades," said Randy Samborn, son of the founder of SSOE.
Late founder, Al Samborn's family was present for the celebration despite no longer having stake in the company.
When he passed, Samborn left SSOE to the employees.
"We're just here to celebrate with them and celebrate the legacy my father had, in leaving this company to employees who make sure that it perpetuates. It was very much a meritocracy, not a family business, and to make sure the best and brightest people were in place to perpetuate its success," said Randy Samborn.
They are currently hiring, and plan to be a Toledo staple for many years to come.
Winning designations as a top 10 engineering/architecture firm for the past five consecutive years, SSOE focuses on delivering great client service to clients through a full range of project delivery solutions.
