16-year-old admits to vandalizing Fremont public basketball courts

FREMONT, OH (WTOL) -

Fremont police have found who is responsible for damaging their public basketball courts Saturday night.

The city of Fremont released a video that showed someone drove their vehicle onto the courts at Roger Young Park and did donuts.

Police say a 16-year-old has admitted to doing the damage. 

The courts were recently upgraded with a stat Capital Improvements grant.

"We take a lot of pride in our community, and it's the small things that make the difference," said Mayor Sanchez. "And when somebody comes to our parks and our community, we have to make sure our parks are safe and protect our parks. But most importantly, protect the people in our community."

Police say the teen and his parents are very cooperative, and the teen with have his day in court.

 

The damage done to the court is extensive and will not be able to be repaired right away.

The teen has been charged and will appear in court sometime in the near future.
