TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Eight more headstones in Forest Cemetery were toppled over on Tuesday night.

A Toledo City Councilman is urging folks to come forward to help catch whomever is behind the vandalism.

Workers at the cemetery said that due to the weight of the headstones, there is no way just one person could have moved them on their own.

Cranes will have to be used to pick up the headstones.

The city is now looking for a group of vandals.

Now, 112 total resting places have been desecrated here in Forest Cemetery this summer.

The City of Toledo is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the cemetery vandals.

The councilman said that the reward money is coming from the general fund, which is taxpayer dollars.

"This is not going to stop unless we as a community put these individuals on notice that this cannot continue, and we are not going to allow you to desecrate our cemeteries, our dead. We as the living has got to take care of the dead," said Councilman Larry Sykes.

"We're asking the community, District 4 or anyone to come forward, to reach out to us. This is serious. If they're going to destroy cemetery plots and monuments, what will they do next?" asks Councilwoman Yvonne Harper.

If you have any information on the vandalism, please call crime stoppers at  419-255-1111.
