Rossford football team to play at old stadium despite demolition of high school building

Rossford High School demolition is in full swing. The school has plans to temporarily move students, teachers and staff to Owens Community College before coming back to their new home in January of 2020.

ROSSFORD, OH (WTOL) - Rossford High School demolition is in full swing.

The school has plans to temporarily move students, teachers and staff to Owens Community College before coming back to their new home in January of 2020.

But where will their football team play starting next month?

Despite massive amounts of construction going on, Rossford High School officials say their football team will continue to play at the old school's stadium in the upcoming season.

"Our first home game is versus Port Clinton on Friday night and we will have this game here," said Rossford Athletic Director Pat Murtha.

The school plans to make accommodations for fans and visiting teams so that the facility is appropriate for the games.

Keeping things as familiar as possible for both the players and fans during this transition time was a big factor in this decision.

"It still gives the players and also the students and community that high school feel.

We're still Rossford High School, we're still playing football games up on the hill top area, downtown like they always won down in the bull," said Murtha.

An exact parking and transportation plan for people who attend the games will be announced closer to when the season starts.
