WOOD COUNTY, OH (WTOL) - .A former area firefighter was indicted on new sex charges Thursday,
Jay Caldwell is accused of sexually assaulting kids he was supposed to be teaching.
A Wood County Grand Jury indicted Caldwell on kidnapping, gross sexual imposition and other crimes.
According to the Wood County Prosecutor, Caldwell was a firefighter in Wood County and used that position and his position with the department's "explorer program" to force students to engage in sex acts with him.
If convicted, Caldwell faces 50 years in prison.
Caldwell is out of jail on an OR bond and scheduled to appear back in court in September.
His trial is scheduled for November.
