Lines close early after big response to Build A Bear Pay Your Age promotion

TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) -

Build A Bear's Pay Your Age Day promotion has flooded the Franklin Park Mall today, with a line that's out the door -- of the mall.

People in line as of this morning were reporting a six-hour wait to get to the store. Some people said the line was just too much and decided to hit up other stores in the mall instead, such as the Disney Store.

A notice on the Build-A-Bear Events page said the lines have now closed due to unprecedented demand.

There were reports of as long as nine-hour waits and fights breaking out at Build A Bear Workshops in the United Kingdom and Ireland. No such incidents had been reported at local stores.

The promotion promised that shoppers could get any furry friend for the price of your age at Build A Bear Workshop.

So, if you're 20 years old, the cost of the stuffed animal would be $20 on this day only. You also must be a Bonus Club member to take advantage of this deal. Customers have to be 18 years or older to sign up for the Bonus Club.

The offer is valid in stores only and limits one stuffed animal per guest.

The minimum price of the stuffed animals is $1 and the maximum price is $29. If you are older than 29 and are interested in this deal, you would only have to pay $29. Customers can not pay less than $1 for a bear even if their child is younger than 1 year old.

This deal was available in all Build-A-Bear stores across the U.S. as well as Canada and the U.K.
