PERRYSBURG, OH (WTOL) - A woman pulled from a fire that broke out at a home in Perrysburg on Thursday morning has died.

An autopsy was performed Friday by the Lucas County Coroner's Office on Anne Ferrell. The cause of death and the woman's name have yet to be officially released. A second person in the home, the woman's son, was injured as well, but his condition was not available Friday.

The Ohio Fire Marshal's Office says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Fire and rescue personnel initially were called to a report of an explosion in an attached garage at a Hickory Street home.

Crews said an elderly woman and her son were inside the home at the time of the fire.

The son was able to escape the home by jumping out of a window after being unable to pull his mother from the home.

Neighbors say they saw the son trying to get inside the home, but the smoke and flames were overwhelming.

"Guys did a great job. It was a team effort for everybody to go in and get her out. Everything went as well as it could," said Perrysburg Township Fire Chief Tom Brice.

While the initial call came in as a possible gas explosion, Columbia Gas has all but ruled that out after investigating and finding the pipes intact.

Investigators with the State Fire Marshal's Office are working the case and are now focusing attention on a vehicle that was parked inside the garage.

The sounds of a blast may have come from the tires exploding on the vehicle.
